Ophiopogon bodinieri H. Lév., is a perennial herbaceous plant of the Asparagaceae family. The plant has short plants, slender roots, and small spindle-shaped roots near the end; the leaf bases form clusters and are grass-leaf-like; the flowers are ever-bearing. In the axils of the bracts, the bracts are linear or lanceolate, slightly yellow, and translucent; the tepals are ovate-lanceolate, white or slightly purple; the filaments are short and often green-yellow. The flowering period is from June to August, and the fruiting period is from August to October. Because it often grows in the gaps under the steps, it is called “step grass”.
Grass along the steps has strong growth, strong shade tolerance, low plant, well-developed root system, and fast covering effect. It is a good ground cover plant and can be planted in patches in moist open spaces in scenic areas and waterside lakes as ground cover plants. . The leaves are evergreen all year round, the flower stand is upright, and the flowers are light and elegant. It can be used as a Youlite potted foliage plant.
