
Garlic vine (Latin name: Mansoa alliacea (Lam.) A.H.Gentry), also known as purple bell vine, Zhang’s bignest, is an evergreen vine-like shrub in the Bignoniaceae family. The plant is vine, with tendrils, and the leaves are two compound leaves, dark green oval, with luster. Flowers axillary, in cymes, corolla tube-shaped, opening five-lobed. The flowering period is from spring to autumn, and the full flowering period is from August to December. After its flowers and leaves are rubbed, they have the smell of garlic, hence the name garlic vine. the
Garlic vine is high-temperature-loving and native to Guyana and Brazil in South America. Garlic vines are strong in nature and less infested by diseases and insect pests. They are generally used as fences, beautification of walls, or decoration of gazebos and trellises.
Another feature of this flower is that it can change color over time. The flowers are pink and purple when they first bloom, slowly turn pink after a few days, and finally turn white and fall off.
