
Malva arborea (L.) Webb & Berthel. is a plant of Malvaceae and Malvaceae. Biennial herb, 1-3 meters high; branches with lignified, soft hairs. Leaves are reniform, 5-9 lobed, 7-20 cm long, nearly equal in width, with blunt teeth on the margin, soft hairs on both sides. Inflorescences arranged in terminal racemes, or 1-4 flowers in leaf axils, pedicels 2-2.5 cm long; pubescent, with nodes at proximal end; bracteoles 3, leafy, entire, long 1 cm, 1.4 cm wide; sepals small, acute, 1/3 of bractlets; corolla dark purple, base with dark purple veins, 4-5 cm in diameter; stamen column hirsute, ovary with heart skin7. Capsule about 1 cm in diameter, glabrous, mature carpel smooth, base of style dilated, conical, about 1.5 mm in diameter.
Originated in Europe, China Beijing Zoo once cultivated. It is more cold-resistant, likes places with sufficient sunlight and good drainage, and is not strict with the soil.
The main use of flower sunflowers is for ornamental gardens.
