Arundina graminifolia (D. Don) Hochr.

Bamboo leaf orchid (scientific name: Arundina graminifolia (D. Don) Hochr.): herbaceous plant. Plant height 40-80 cm, sometimes up to 1 m; underground rhizomes are often oval-shaped and enlarged at the base of the connecting stem, resembling pseudobulbs, 1-2 cm in diameter, with many fibrous roots. The stems are erect, often growing in clusters or in sheets, cylindrical, thin bamboo stalk-like, usually surrounded by leaf sheaths, with many leaves. Leaves linear-lanceolate, thin leathery or papery. Inflorescence usually 2-8 cm long, raceme or base with 1-2 branches forming a cone, with 2-10 flowers; flowers pink or slightly purple or white; petals elliptic or ovate-elliptic, with Sepals subequal. Flowering and fruiting period is September-November or January-April.

Growing on grass slopes, beside valleys, under bushes or in forests, 400-2800 meters above sea level. Distributed in China, Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan, India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Ryukyu Islands and Tahiti. This flower is cultivated and has high horticultural value.
