
Desert Rose (Adenium obesum), Apocynaceae Desert Rose is a succulent shrub or small tree plant. The root is relatively thick, tender white, with tendrils on it; the leaves are opposite, green, without petioles; the flowers are large, funnel-shaped, with fluff on the outside, pink on the outer edge, and light in the middle; the seeds are dark brown, white and soft hair. The flowering period is from April to May, and the fruiting period is from August to September. It is named “Desert Rose” because its origin is close to the desert and its flowers are as red as roses.
Desert rose is native to Kenya and Tanzania in Africa. It was introduced to South China for cultivation in the 1980s and is distributed in most parts of China. Desert Rose likes a warm, dry, sunny, and well-ventilated environment. It is resistant to drought and avoids water and humidity. It requires fertile, loose, and well-drained sandy loam. The propagation methods mainly include seed propagation and cutting propagation. Due to the complex terrain, the survival rate of seed propagation is low, and cutting propagation is mostly used.
The desert rose plant is short, the tree shape is simple and vigorous, and the rhizome is hypertrophic like a wine bottle. Bright red and beautiful, shaped like a trumpet, very unique, loved by lovers. The small courtyard is planted on the ground, simple and dignified, natural and generous. Ornamental potted plants are unique for decorating indoor balconies.
